| アメリカの詩人。リチャード・ロジャース（コロンビア大学の後輩）とコンビを組み、軽妙な作風で数々の名作を書いたが、1940年代に入って意見が合わなくなり、ロジャースが「オクラホマ」のミュージカル化を提案した時、都会派のハートは反対した。そこでロジャースはオスカー・ハマースタイン・2世に作詞を依頼することとなり大ヒットした。晩年ハートはアルコール依存症となり、「オクラホマ」の開演から間もなく他界した。 |

アメリカ合衆国の作曲家。コロンビア大学の先輩・作詞家のローレンツ・ハート、オスカー・ハマースタイン二世とのコンビで数多くのミュージカルの曲を書いた。
オスカー・ハマースタイン二世とのコンビでは、34のトニー賞、15のアカデミー賞を獲得するなどの成果をおさめた。彼が亡くなった晩、ブロードウェイの全ての劇場は、灯りを消して、その死を悼んだ。 |
